ICSE AT WIS
Witty International School has made its mark in the CAIE (Cambridge Assessment International Examination) Programme training students for the IGCSE Examinations for over a decade now. WIS is also committed to provide high standard teaching and learning environment in its ICSE Section as well. Our objective is to promote the essence of the ICSE curriculum in a comprehensive learning environment along with a wide range of co-curricular activities. At WIS, the ICSE syllabus is delivered to lead the students in a progressive and phased manner, enabling them to be well-prepared and future-ready. Application of knowledge and the development of analytical skills form an integral part of the programme that aims to develop students as responsible citizens who make positive contributions to the society. The teaching methodology enhances the life skills (functional literacy, numeracy, community skills and self-development) of children. WIS enables children to expand their understanding of the world from academic and cultural perspectives through School trips and excursions. They participate in Dance, Drama, Fine Arts, Western and Indian Music, Yoga, and other activities. The students organize and participate in Inter-house cultural and sports events, thus developing leadership skills and team spirit.
Primary Section (ICSE)
The Primary School curriculum at WIS offers an exciting and creative learning environment, with an inter-disciplinary appreciation of Languages, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies, as individual and integrated subjects. Hindi is taught as a Second Language, while Functional Marathi is offered as well, building a strong foundation in Indian languages. The Primary curriculum is built on concepts and skills learnt in the Pre- School. It ensures progression and continuity across various stages of learning in school, and incorporates consistent evaluation and review of children's performance through the CCE (Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation) pattern. Physical Education develops sports skills and creates health awareness. Exposure to team and individual sports encourages a sense of vital life skills like team spirit, individual effort and accomplishment.
Witty International School ensures that the students engage in field trips, excursions, activities, projects and presentations that provide experiential learning opportunities. Dance, Fine Arts, Music, Yoga, Speech and Drama promote well-rounded development. Students are encouraged to participate in inter-house cultural and sports events. Prayer, Assemblies, Concerts and dramatization shapes their intellect for higher level learning. WIS believes in ‘Learning by Doing’ which forms the basis of all learning. The curriculum of the Primary School is four tiered - comprehensive conversation, challenged inquiry, artistic construction and creative expression.
Secondary Section (ICSE)
The curriculum in the secondary section ensures progression and continuity across various stages of learning in the school and incorporates continuous evaluation and review of children's performance.
The focus shifts to self-reliance and initiative with purposeful, goal-directed facilitation by the teacher. Opportunities are therefore created for questioning, enquiry, debate, reflection and deep-diving into the concepts. In the Middle School the curriculum design and selection of text books offers both creative and educative experiences to the pupils. Class VIII serves as a preparatory year for the ICSE Programme in Classes IX and X. Students appear for the ICSE Examination at Grade X. Field trips and excursions aid in developing social skills and in raising awareness about the world. Projects, presentations and group activities are more formal and research-based. Inter-house cultural and sports competitions encourage healthy competition and team spirit. Students begin to contribute to class assemblies, concerts and drama productions, and take up roles of responsibility. Apart from academics, students are also expected to partake in Socially Useful Productive Work as well as community service, through NGOs.
