As a school that offers both National and International curricula, we are uniquely placed to blend the best elements of these different systems at various levels. The school-wide professional development of teachers through conferences and workshops serves as an effective platform to appreciate and share the strengths inherent in both curricula.

These help us to thoughtfully appreciate the curriculum requirements and pedagogical approaches at the higher Classes and meaningfully carry down and align them to the lower Classes. We believe that this trickle-down effect greatly supplements our efforts of instilling in children an early ability to develop research skills, think creatively, be self-reliant, as well as of creating an intrinsic excitement that will finally make them lifelong learners. Thus, we are able to offer our students a continuum of learning and progression within the school, as well as elsewhere.

Basketball, table tennis, chess, carom, gymnastics, athletics, cricket, athletics, martial arts,Ā  personal fitness, football (soccer) and volleyball.

WIS has an incredibly high retention rate for its students. This is exciting for us, as it allows for our students to form life-long bonds with their classmates and long-term staff.  It also creates an environment where the student has time to fully embrace the schoolā€™s educational philosophy.

As with any international school, there is a mix of longer-serving staff and others who spend just two to four years. The school is committed to encouraging the majority of staff to stay for a minimum of five or six years, and our salary, benefit and professional development policies are geared towards that end.

WIS students have a number of opportunities to interact with students from other schools in and around Mumbai, across India and internationally. Inter-school sports, dramatics and other events are held periodically.

Yes the school has its fleet of own buses manned by experienced staff and female attendants.

Each board has its unique methodology of teaching, application of knowledge and assessment. Based on what you wish for your child one should select the board.

ICSE offers a wide syllabus which is  application-based and requires the students to think beyond the prescribed syllabi to  excel. IB follows an altogether different approach where there are no prescribed  textbooks and kids are free to explore the myriad world of books.

ICSE and CBSE students have a better footing in Indian sub-continent as the syllabus is well  aligned with most of the professional entrance examinations. Cambridge students however compete well in exams where  there is little amount of rote learning and requires higher degree of analytical skills like SAT, CAT, GRE and highly skill based Indian exams.

We currently offer Mandarin and French as foreign languages.

Firstly, it is an international examination with worldwide recognition and credibility;
Secondly, it encourages ā€“ indeed, demands ā€“ the questioning and discovery method of learning, rather than relying on rote learning;
Thirdly, it provides excellent preparation for the AS/ A level/ International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme that Witty International School students follow in Classes XI and XII.Ā Students who have taken the IGCSE Programme will be familiar with the styles of learning and the expectations of the Alevel/ IBDP;Lastly, the coursework and practicals provide strong skills development and application orientation.

Yes, it is recognized by CBSE, CISCE and state education boards in India as a qualification for entry to Class XI or for other higher secondary education courses. It is also a recognized Class X qualification, as one of the prerequisites for admission to undergraduate courses in India

IGCSE helps the students to develop key learning, problem-solving and investigative skills by encouraging an active, critical and questioning approach to study. With a choice of Core and Extended papers in most subjects, the IGCSE is suitable for students with different levels of ability. Hence it is wrong to say that results of IGCSE are stricter than SSC. However, we agree that the SSC students are granted marks very leniently including internal and sports marks. But all reputed colleges have accepted IGCSE and students are admitted for HSC. Even IGCSE students are allowed to fill online application form for HSC admission in Maharashtra.

No. There will be no mention of Core or Extended selection on the marksheet. The school in consultation with the parents will decide whether a student will opt for Core or Extended paper.

The IGCSE examination is suitable for virtually the whole ability range. It has an 8-point scale of grades: A,A, B,C,D,E,F and G.

(Grade A is awarded for exceptional levels of achievement).

To take account of differing abilities, there is a choice between Core and Extended curriculum papers in most subjects. This allows teachers to decide on the most appropriate level of papers for their
students.

Marks are awarded out of 100 for all subjects. The Council encourages a system of continuous assessment by the school and, therefore, all the subjects have an internal assessment component of 20% in the form of project work, while the final written examination accounts for 80%. With respect to the optional subject chosen from Group III, it is divided into a Theory paper and a Practical component, with each being assessed to the extent of 50% through internal evaluation and 50% by way of external evaluation / final written examination. The standard reached in ā€˜Socially Useful Productive Workā€™ (internally assessed) will be given grades A, B, C, D or E; A being the highest and E the lowest. A, B, C or D indicates a ā€˜Passā€™ and E a ā€˜Failā€™.

Although our Classes X students have the opportunity to seek admission to the AS/ A Level or IB Diploma Programme in Classes XI and XII, the final choices are driven by considerations of their own plans about further learning and future career preferences. Those students who do not choose to pursue the A level/ IB Programme do have the option to pursue the Higher Secondary examinations of the Indian education boards – national boards (ISC / CBSE) or the state boards (HSC) at another school / Junior College; some of these students, post Class XII, may also choose to do a professional course in engineering, medicine, management and so on. It must be noted that students doing their Class XII with Indian education boards also have opportunities to pursue their higher education with universities abroad. Thus, certainly, an ICSE/ Cambridge Class X student has many possibilities and options.
